Starving Tigray: How Armed Conflict and Mass Atrocities Have Destroyed an Ethiopian Region’s Economy and Food System and Are Threatening Famine
With an introduction from former NZ Prime Minister Helen Clark, this special report demonstrates how Ethiopian and Eritrean belligerents in the war in Tigray have comprehensively dismantled the region’s economy and food system. I contributed primary, open-source intelligence research and original writing to document war crimes and human rights abuses committed by various armed forces involved in the war (see Sections 4 and 5).

Livelihood Components of Durable Solutions for IDPs
This assessment examines three ways in which national and international actors have sought to implement long-term, “durable,” solutions to internal displacement in Ethiopia’s Somali Region: resettlement, relocation, and local integration. For this, I contributed qualitative data analysis and original writing on the livelihoods challenges faced by IDPs in each of the three durable solutions contexts.

Panel Presentation: The Effects of the War in Tigray
To present our report, Starving Tigray, and advocate for increased global action on ending the war in Tigray, the World Peace Foundation and Tufts University hosted this panel presentation, for which I was one of the speakers. My portion covers crimes related to the mass destruction of property and infrastructure and weaponized sexual violence.

Panel Moderation: International Day of Eliminating Sexual Violence in Conflict Conference
As part of a larger awareness campaign I coordinated, this conference featured a series of panels on the use of sexual violence as a weapon of war, in honor of the international day for its elimination. I moderated a second panel in which African women activists spoke about the situations in various countries, including the DRC and Ethiopia, beginning at 1:11:00.

The first, “Beyond State and Citizen: Interrogating Structural Power,” asks not only how we can change the current global system, but come up with new ideas for meeting modern problems.
